 An Overview of the History of the Slovak League of America
The Slovak League of America is a civic and cultural federation of Americans of Slovak ancestry founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1907. As an umbrella organization, it represents the overwhelming majority of organized Americans of Slovak ancestry. Affiliated with the League are the following American Slovak fraternal benefit societies: The First Catholic Slovak Union of the U.S. and Canada, the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, Slovak Catholic Sokol, National Slovak Society and Ladies Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union. Also affiliated with it is the Slovak Garden (Florida) and other Slovak cultural institutions and local groups in various parts of the United States. |
